Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee members gathered outside Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on July 21. They marched to protest the Delhi Police detention of Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi and other senior party figures. Party president Bosiram Siram led the demonstration, accusing the BJP-led Union government of weaponizing police to crush dissent.
Siram attacked the Centre for targeting students and politicians instead of fixing examination irregularities. He spoke to the crowd during the event. "The BJP-led government has once again exposed its intolerance towards democratic dissent by using the police machinery to suppress the voice of the Opposition and intimidate students who are demanding justice for repeated examination irregularities," Siram said.
The APCC issued a list of demands. They want the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The party blames him for the systemic failure to protect examination integrity. They also requested a full parliamentary debate on the ongoing test controversies. Accountability is their goal. They insist on greater transparency and fairness in all future public examinations.
Local Congress leaders also demanded the withdrawal of all FIRs filed against student protesters in Delhi. They claim the government is actively harassing peaceful demonstrators. Despite the detentions, the party vowed to maintain its campaign. They will keep fighting for students, constitutional values, and democratic rights through peaceful agitation. The BJP-led Union government has not replied to these accusations.
