Itanagar: The Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation reopened the KKG-BSB Bridge in Arunachal Pradesh on September 9, 2026. Crews finished the job in eight days. This steel suspension bridge at Krowti sits in the Kibithoo Circle and spans the Lohit River. It is a vital link for residents living in remote forward villages like Kaho, Musai, and Dong near the Line of Actual Control.
Trouble started when an overloaded truck hauling sand jammed the structure. The weight damaged the bridge, forcing a shutdown that cut off these villages from the rest of the sector. Officials stated, "The restoration was carried out jointly by the Indian Army and BRO, with teams working continuously to restore the critical link."
The bridge is back in service but under strict conditions. Authorities only allow light and small vehicles to cross for now. Technical teams remain on the site to monitor stability. They are currently evaluating the structure to determine how to safely restore its full capacity.
