Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association (ANSAM) says security forces used excessive force against unarmed women in Kangpokpi district on June 28. The group claims CRPF soldiers and Kangpokpi police officers opened fire on the crowd at Thonglang along IT Road. SDPO Lalboi Lunkim allegedly led the operation. The force also reportedly used a JCB to smash a traditional Naga village gate.

Protesters gathered to demand justice for six Naga men killed earlier this month. ANSAM members returned to the site the next morning and found spent bullet casings scattered on the ground. The group claims the government has failed to catch the killers, which has only stoked more anger and unrest among the local population.

The student body is now demanding a full investigation into the shooting. They insist that police must stop harassing peaceful demonstrators and stay out of Naga villages unless they have permission from local leaders. The group warned that the ongoing economic blockade will not stop until officials address their grievances.

ANSAM stated, "The government's failure to bring those responsible to justice had eroded public confidence and contributed to the continuing unrest." They vowed to keep supporting the movement until the state delivers accountability for the deaths.
