Akhil Gogoi Urges Assam Government to Prioritize Inflation Over UCC

Guwahati: Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi has criticized the BJP government for focusing on a proposed Uniform Civil Code while the people of Assam struggle with economic distress. Speaking on May 22 at the state legislative assembly, the MLA argued that the government should prioritize relief from the rising costs of essential goods.

Gogoi labeled the Uniform Civil Code as a controversial measure and insisted that the current timing is inappropriate for such legislation. He emphasized that the state is currently navigating a significant crisis that requires the government's full attention rather than divisive political agendas.

With his party now holding two seats in the assembly instead of one, Gogoi stated that his faction intends to advocate more effectively for the public. He pledged that the Raijor Dal will use this increased representation to hold the government accountable and fight for solutions to the hardships facing the residents of Assam.
