Aizawl: Ahmedabad Special Operations Group officers seized 5,050 bottles of codeine phosphate cough syrup. The haul filled 34 cartons. Investigators linked the stash to an unlicensed distribution ring supplying North India. The supply chain reached all the way to Mizoram.

Authorities allege a company based in Mizoram accepted these shipments without holding a valid license. ACP SS Ninama confirmed a case is now open under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. "A case has been registered against both the alleged supplier and the recipient company under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act," said Ninama.

Police identified Hiren Kantilal Patel and Parsh Vora as the owners of the primary supplying business. The Crime Branch is working to map the full network. Agents want to know how long these illegal operations ran and where else the drugs went. Officials are now tracking the origin of these medicines to dismantle the entire operation.
