Kohima: The All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA) of Wokha district commemorated its 12th foundation day on May 17 at the VDB Hall. The event featured Zurenthung Humtsoe, associate pastor of WTBC, who served as the theme speaker. In his address, Humtsoe honored the role of commercial drivers, describing their profession as a noble service, and encouraged the membership to prioritize faith while maintaining integrity and mutual respect between leaders and members.
Reflecting on the organization's history, founding member Renbomo Humtsoe highlighted the early challenges faced during the association's inception. He emphasized that the group was established to protect the interests of drivers and uphold the “One Government, One Tax” principle, which remains a cornerstone of the union today. To ensure continued progress, he urged members to foster unity and maintain strong cooperation with the association's leadership.
During the session, the ACVA took significant steps regarding local policy and community engagement. The house unanimously pledged its support for the “Drug-Free Wokha” campaign led by the Lotha Youth Hoho. Furthermore, members reaffirmed a 2018 resolution designed to safeguard the rights of local operators against non-local commercial vehicle owners. The organization also held deliberations on the introduction of local taxis by the ANTA Wokha Unit, promising full cooperation on the matter.
The meeting concluded with internal administrative updates, including the presentation of the 2026–27 financial report by finance secretary T. Renbemo Kikon and the appointment of Simon Ezung as the new joint secretary of ACVA Wokha district.
