Zunheboto Town Council Takes Control of Multi-Purpose Hall

Kohima: The District Planning and Development Board of Zunheboto formally transferred the district multi-purpose hall to the Zunheboto Town Council during its recent monthly meeting. Chairman K Tokugha Sukhalu confirmed the property will remain under council management for a one-year trial period before officials determine the long-term administrative strategy.

During the meeting at the Deputy Commissioner conference hall, Sukhalu addressed the state's economic challenges. He urged department officials to maximize existing resources, noting that Nagaland faces a high ratio of government employees relative to its limited revenue. He encouraged hosting regular public outreach programs to foster civic engagement. Regarding these initiatives, Sukhalu stated, "Sustained awareness campaigns would help instill a greater sense of responsibility and participation among the public."

Addressing local infrastructure, Sukhalu noted that a new General Administration Guest House at North Point Colony is nearing completion. This facility is expected to ease the ongoing shortage of government housing for officers stationed in the district.

The board also reviewed agricultural and educational concerns. Khehoshe H Yepthomi of the NPF Zunheboto Division highlighted that local farmers struggle to sell produce because they lack proper market infrastructure, proposing the construction of a rural marketing shed to support local entrepreneurs. Additionally, the board approved the registration of the Taekwondo Society and recommended the official upgrading of The Cedar School in Aghunato.
