Imphal: The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland has officially requested that the Jalukie Police Station register an FIR against Tony Singsit. The complaint, filed on May 24, stems from comments Singsit allegedly made during a viral interview aired on May 16.
Union leaders Edward Nring, Eteigum Ndang, and Luongsangyiile allege that Singsit used the platform to spread provocative and false information. They contend that his statements unfairly targeted the Zeliangrong Naga community by linking them to the Kangpokpi incident without providing evidence.
According to the union, Singsit inaccurately described the origins of the current Manipur conflict as a simple brawl in Litan. They argue this narrative serves as a deliberate attempt to distort history and stir up communal tensions between residents of Manipur and Nagaland.
The ZSUN noted that other prominent groups, such as the United Naga Council and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, have already rejected these claims. The student body is now calling for legal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing concerns over public mischief and the promotion of enmity between communities. They have also asked officials to investigate the spread of this video and take measures to stop its further distribution.
