Guwahati: A wild elephant is roaming Numaligarh with a tractor tyre jammed around its neck. Residents in the Bakial area spotted the distressed animal trekking through a local tea garden. The sight sparked immediate alarm. Locals believe the elephant picked up the rubber debris while foraging for food near human settlements.

Photographs showing the trapped creature quickly spread through the region. The incident highlights the friction between expanding human footprints and wildlife habitats. "Locals suspect that the tyre may have become lodged while the animal was moving through the area in search of food," according to reports from the site. Forest officials have yet to confirm if they plan a rescue operation or what the animal's current condition is.
