Agartala: West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb met with Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Thursday. They discussed ways to fix Tripura's tourism infrastructure and protect its history. Deb wants the Centre to speed up work at three temples in South Tripura. These include Jogmaya Kalibari in Belonia, Rajrajeswari Kalibari in Muhuripur, and Daityeswari Kalibari in Sabroom.

The MP also targeted the Unakoti archaeological site for a major overhaul. He requested a one-kilometre road stretch connecting National Highway-208 to the site become a four-lane highway. This would help visitors travel safely. Deb also lobbied for an Archaeological Survey of India circle office in the state. He claimed, "The office would significantly strengthen the conservation, restoration, and maintenance of the state's rich archaeological and historical heritage."

Finally, Deb asked for more cash for the Mata Tripurasundari Temple in Udaipur. He wants this work completed under the PRASAD scheme.
