Shillong: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui delivered a new government secondary school to Jongushen Village on Tuesday. The facility sits in the Amlarem Sub-Division of West Jaintia Hills. It gives local kids a way to finish secondary school without long commutes. Built with funds from the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan, the project builds on existing primary and upper primary schools in the area.
Rymbui told the crowd that the government puts learning first. He argued that schools are the best way to move the region forward. "Education remains a top government priority for empowering individuals," the minister said. He urged parents and teachers to push for academic success and strong character in every student.
The minister leaned on teachers to stay professional and sincere in their work. Success will not happen in a vacuum. It takes constant input from parents and community leaders to keep the doors open and the standards high. The event wrapped up with the formal handover to the village, as students and local officials looked on.
