Shillong: Dr Nibedita Paul, the NSS Programme Coordinator at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, received a prestigious national award for her work in community service. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya presented the honor during the Chintan Shivir held at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, alongside various senior government officials. Dr Paul earned the recognition for her leadership in promoting student volunteerism, social service, and the core values of the National Service Scheme. Her efforts to mobilize students toward nation-building activities have earned USTM significant national acclaim.
The two-day event gathered representatives from the Department of Youth Affairs, MY Bharat, and the NSS to discuss strategies for enhancing youth engagement. The sessions focused on grassroots development and the shared vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Ministry officials praised Dr Paul for her innovative institutional initiatives and her role in fostering a sense of social responsibility among students.
The USTM community celebrated the achievement, noting that the award reflects well on the university and the entire region.
