Agartala: Union Minister for Power and Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, arrives in Tripura on May 31 as part of a three-day tour across Northeast and eastern India. His travel itinerary includes stops in Mizoram, West Bengal, and Tripura to review regional development progress.

A primary focus of the visit in Agartala is the celebration of the sixth anniversary of the PM SVANidhi scheme. The minister will meet with beneficiaries from across the Northeast to discuss how the initiative has supported street vendors through access to affordable working capital loans and financial services. The scheme was originally launched by the central government following the COVID-19 pandemic to bolster digital transactions and formal financial inclusion.

During his stay, Khattar will also conduct a thorough assessment of the power sector in Tripura. He plans to visit key power facilities and hold formal meetings with senior officials from the state Power Department to address existing infrastructure needs and project updates.
