Two Die in Fiery Truck Collision Near Bodh Gaya

Shillong: Two people burned to death Thursday morning after their car smashed into a truck in Gaya district. The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. near Sijua Mor on the Dobhi-Patna highway. The car hit a truck carrying fertilizer, sparking a fire that consumed the vehicle almost instantly.

Occupants inside the car could not get out. Two died at the scene while a third passenger, identified as Rishabh Kumar of Vaishali district, suffered life-threatening injuries. Medics moved Kumar to a hospital in Patna for urgent care. Police have not yet identified the two who perished in the wreckage.

Investigators believe the truck driver turned into the highway from an approach road while driving the wrong way. The car struck the truck near its diesel tank. Bodh Gaya Station House Officer Arvind Kumar Singh said both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, and "efforts are underway to establish their identities."

The truck driver and his helper ditched the rig and ran away before police arrived. Officers cleared the mangled metal from the road to get traffic moving again. Police are currently hunting the pair who fled the scene as they work to piece together exactly how the collision occurred.
