Agartala: Tripura has seen a significant decrease in school dropout rates, a trend Chief Minister Manik Saha attributes to ongoing efforts to improve the state's education sector. During a bicycle distribution event in Agartala on Monday, Saha highlighted that expanding access to quality learning remains a top priority for his administration.

As part of this year's welfare efforts, the government is providing 41,800 bicycles to students in Class IX. Officials believe these resources will help students maintain regular attendance by simplifying their commute to school. "The primary objective of distributing bicycles is to ensure that students can reach school on time and attend classes regularly. It will also encourage girls to continue their studies with greater enthusiasm," Saha stated.

The Chief Minister emphasized that fostering education for girls is a central pillar of the state's development strategy. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi frequently advocates for the advancement of women as a prerequisite for national progress. Beyond classroom initiatives, the government is actively promoting women's participation in governance. Currently, women hold half of the representative positions in the state's three-tier panchayat system and maintain significant leadership roles within the Agartala Municipal Corporation and other urban local bodies.
