Agartala: Tripura is pushing a massive growth agenda. The state is securing new road projects, industrial investment, and educational reforms. Power Minister reports that 95 percent of the power distribution strengthening work is now complete. Meanwhile, the state government plans to buy 20,710 metric tons of paddy from local farmers this season.
Infrastructure gets a major cash injection. The Centre approved 211.71 crore rupees for road projects under PMGSY-IV. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma met Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh in New Delhi on Monday, July 13, to propose big upgrades. Debbarma wants an Integrated Textile Park, a Silk Park, a National Institute of Design, an Indian Institute of Handloom Technology, and a Central Silk Reeling School.
He also pushed for craft villages and a handicrafts museum. The state seeks support for bamboo, pineapple, and banana fiber industries. The goal is to back national programs like Viksit Bharat 2047 and Make in India. Debbarma said, "The proposed projects could significantly improve livelihoods for weavers, artisans, silk growers, women's self-help groups and young entrepreneurs by creating new employment opportunities and expanding market access."
Tripura is also leveling up its education and industry. An online monitoring system is tracking learning outcomes to improve rural schools. The tea sector expects 726 crore rupees in investments. CM says the industrial sector holds deep potential. Elsewhere, 14-year-old Trapa Choudhury joined global youth leaders in New Delhi. The Global Pineapple Festival also wrapped up in the capital. A 72-hour strike called by disbanded militant outfits appears headed for cancellation.
