Agartala: The Tripura government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, has introduced new administrative office hours to improve work-life balance for state employees. Offices will now operate from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm on working days, extending the previous schedule of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

As part of this shift, all Saturdays are now designated as government holidays. This replaces the former policy where only the second and fourth Saturdays of the month were off. State officials explained that the longer weekday hours are designed to maintain administrative efficiency and ensure that public services continue without disruption despite the closure on Saturdays.

The administration views this policy as a move toward modernizing state operations while prioritizing the well-being of its workforce. Officials noted that the adjustment aims to help employees manage their personal lives more effectively, which they anticipate will lead to higher productivity and better mental health outcomes.

Dulal Deb, a senior official at the Civil Secretariat, welcomed the update. He stated, "This is a progressive step to help employees manage professional and personal responsibilities."
