Agartala: A delegation from the Tripura Pradesh Congress met with the DIG of the Central Reserve Police Force in Agartala on June 16 to demand disciplinary action against an Assistant Commandant. The protest stems from a NEET-related demonstration on Monday, where Youth Congress workers were allegedly subjected to a lathi charge and verbal abuse by an officer identified as Ram Kumar.

Video footage circulating online appears to show the Assistant Commandant using derogatory language toward protesters, including female workers. During the meeting, party leaders including Asish Kumar Saha, Neel Kamal Saha, and MLA Sudip Roy Barman presented evidence of the incident and requested a formal investigation into the officer's conduct.

Roy Barman emphasized that the physical assault occurred without provocation and criticized the officer for his treatment of women. He stated, "The way one Assistant Commandant CRPF used the language on women power is nothing but insulting. We can't tolerate this."

In addition to seeking internal disciplinary measures, the Congress delegation has filed an FIR against the Assistant Commandant. They questioned the legality of the police action, noting that local law enforcement did not issue orders for a lathi charge. According to the delegation, the DIG has provided assurances that the matter will be investigated and strict action will be taken.
