Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha presented the state's strategic development roadmap during a NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi. The session brought together leadership from North Eastern states and NITI Aayog officials, including Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri, to discuss regional growth priorities.

Dr. Saha introduced the Lakshya 2047 vision document, which focuses on building a future-ready state through institutional reforms and improved resource management. He noted that Tripura leads the country in deregulation and compliance reduction, crediting specialized bodies like the Investment Promotion Agency of Tripura for driving these governance improvements. Addressing the assembly, he said, "Tripura has made significant progress in governance reforms, digital transformation, investment promotion, healthcare, education, innovation and entrepreneurship."

The Chief Minister emphasized the need to expand Tripura's industrial potential, specifically naming the development of an Agartala AI City and the establishment of a regional pharmaceutical and MedTech hub. He also advocated for increased support for the natural fibres sector to boost local innovation.

Infrastructure remains a top priority, with Dr. Saha calling for the swift operationalization of the Sabroom to Ramgarh Integrated Check Post and the Agartala to Akhaura railway link. He also requested new Vande Bharat Express services between Agartala and Guwahati, alongside the restoration of flight services to Chittagong and the revival of the Kailashahar Airport.

In the healthcare sector, the state reported a decline in infant mortality and a reduction in patient referrals to facilities outside Tripura. To continue this progress, the Chief Minister requested the establishment of an AIIMS in Agartala and expanded funding for state health schemes. The proposal also included upgrading the Netaji Subhash Regional Coaching Centre into a national training facility and launching a cycling competition to drive sports tourism in the region.
