Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity is pushing the Centre and the Manipur government to stop the NSCN-IM and the ZUF. The group claims these militants are the main threat to peace in the Northeast. These armed factions operate with little oversight in the hill districts where the Kuki-Zo people live. The state faces an uphill battle to secure the area.

Violence hit Thingkhongjang village on Sunday. Attackers threw explosives at a church while residents were inside praying. The blast damaged the building and left a minor girl and a woman with serious wounds. Medics at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital in Imphal are treating the victims.

CoTU labeled the groups as a major impediment to law and order. The body warned that security will remain fragile until authorities strip these factions of their operational power. CoTU stated, "The operational reach of the NSCN-IM has emerged as one of the biggest obstacles to peace and stability in the Northeast." Officials must act now to stop the bloodshed and keep civilians safe.
