Imphal: Insurgents killed two Assam Rifles soldiers in a violent ambush at Hungpung village in Manipur. Warrant Officer Balwant Singh and Havildar Chandra Mohan Singh died in the strike. The Committee on Tribal Unity, Sadar Hills, condemned the killings. They labeled the attack a direct challenge to national security.

The group claims this hit fits a wider pattern of violence against security forces. They argue that some militant outfits abuse peace agreements to operate with impunity. These insurgents continue to collect benefits while attacking the military.

The committee stated, "It is preposterous that armed insurgent groups enjoying the security and political concessions extended under agreements with the Government of India are allegedly attacking the very security forces tasked with maintaining peace."

They pointed fingers at the NSCN-IM, the ZUF Kamson faction, and the Naga Eastern Flank. CoTU wants the Centre to review all existing ceasefire and Suspension of Operations deals immediately. They believe these agreements lack proper oversight. The organization asked for firm action from both the Central and Manipur governments to restore order in the hill districts.
