Imphal: The Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) pulled its blockade off National Highway-2 and National Highway-37 on Monday. The group stopped the emergency road closure after reaching a deal with local officials. Kangpokpi district Superintendent of Police promised to keep the Kuki-Zo people safe.

CoTU ordered village volunteers to stand down from security duties immediately. The police chief now holds the bag for any future attacks or property damage in the district. The organization issued a firm warning: "The Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, would bear full responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of Kuki-Zo villages and residents across the district."

The police chief also committed to escorting trucks carrying food and supplies into Leimakhong, Tuilang IT Road, Kangchup, and Bungpi. While the roads are open, CoTU expects results. They are still pushing for the arrest of those behind the murders of three pastors and eleven other civilians. The group plans to watch the situation closely and will restart protests if the authorities break their word.
