Shillong: A tourist from Uttar Pradesh faced a heated confrontation at Mawsawa Falls in Meghalaya on October 4. Women from Assam caught the man recording them while they were bathing. He got caught. The man initially denied the act entirely.

The situation shifted when the women inspected his phone. They discovered roughly nine to 10 photos and several zoomed-in videos of themselves. One woman told PTI, “He initially denied taking any photographs or videos. But when we checked his phone, we found around nine to 10 photographs and zoomed-in videos of us.”

The man claimed his wet hands caused the camera to fire accidentally. The victims questioned how multiple zoomed-in clips could be captured by mistake. Viral footage shows the man kneeling before the group, touching their feet, and holding his ears to beg for forgiveness.

He promised to never repeat the behavior. The women opted not to file a police report following his apology. Bystanders at the scene reportedly criticized the women for their choice of clothing instead of addressing the recording. Mawsawa Falls sits 65 km west of Shillong near Sohra and remains a high-traffic destination.
