Guwahati: Tinsukia district officials have kicked off the electoral roll revision for the 2026 Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council elections. The Assam State Election Commission issued the order to prep the lists for six local constituencies: Sadiya, Chabua, Dangari, Dirak Chumoni, Tinsukia, and Burhi Dihing.

Registration officers are using the November 2025 roll as a base, syncing it with Assembly data from February 2026. They are following Rule 16 of the council election code. Only the "Sonowal part" of villages within the jurisdiction makes the cut. The cutoff for voter age is January 1, 2026.

The clock is ticking. Preliminary work runs through June 28, with the core revision work slated for June 29 through July 9. Officials will publish a draft on July 10, giving residents until July 25 to file claims or objections. All disputes will be settled by August 1.

The final roll drops August 3. The district administration expects local voters to check their details and flag errors immediately to keep the records clean and accurate.
