Kohima: The Tikhir Gazetted Officers Association issued a sharp rebuke to nine members who challenged the group's endorsement of a representative to the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority. The dissenters, led by general secretary T.L. Kiusumong Tikhir, claimed the appointment lacked proper consultation. TGOA leadership called this accusation a blatant falsehood and a manufactured allegation.
Vice-president Yongchem and other executive members asserted that the appointment was a tribal mandate rather than an internal administrative task. The decision stems from a meeting held at Anatongre village on March 10, 2026. Multiple groups attended, including the Tikhir Tribal Council, the Tikhir Students Union, the Tikhir Gaon Bura Association, and the Tikhir Women Association.
The association defended its process by noting that official meeting notices were circulated in their WhatsApp group and via personal invitations. Leaders argued that asking for a separate TGOA house resolution was unnecessary since the tribal council had already reached a collective decision. They noted that the meeting agenda specifically identified the selection of an interim council member as the primary goal.
The TGOA further criticized the dissenting faction for selectively interpreting association bylaws to suit their agenda. They maintained that decisions made by the members present at the tribal meeting are binding. The leadership accused the dissenting members of prioritizing private farm visits over the selection proceedings. Consequently, the association declared the dissenters’ claim that the endorsement is non-binding to be null, void, and non-est. They urged all Tikhir citizens to ignore divisive propaganda as the Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization nears its goal of establishing the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority.
