Kohima: The Tikhir GBs Association (TGBA) hit back at its own general secretary, A.P. Tsupan, this week. It rejected claims he made in local media regarding the association’s leadership. Tsupan had alleged that the signature of president L.Y. Tokim on a September 1, 2026, document was not official. The TGBA disputes this account entirely.
Four senior officials, vice-presidents T. Tsangli and P. Tsintsumong alongside assistant general secretaries T. Khiungju and Mongtsen, issued the clarification. They pointed to a July 25 incident where Tsupan and two others from Thonoknyu village served a non-cooperation letter to the Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC). The association now views his recent public statements as “misleading” and without merit. The TGBA stated these remarks were “self-centred and unfounded statements” that threaten to confuse the Tikhir public.
The association has barred Tsupan from all organizational activities. He will remain sidelined until he changes his stance toward tribal unity. Officials insist that L.Y. Tokim signed the September 1 agreement at Kiusam headquarters only after full consultation with the group. This meeting, led by P. Timong, included elders, village councils, and intellectuals. Attendees unanimously reaffirmed a March 10, 2026, resolution to select Mark Morakiu as the interim Tikhir member to the Frontier Naga Territorial Authority (FNTA). The TGBA maintained that this choice remains a collective decision, not the whim of a single leader.
