Three Injured in Kangpokpi District Firing Incident

Imphal: Three people sustained injuries during a shooting near Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul villages in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur on Monday, June 15. The victims were identified as 18-year-old Genlenmang Vaiphei, 20-year-old Lunliandaw Vaiphei, and 18-year-old Paogou Lal. All three individuals are members of the Kuki community.

Following the attack, the injured were transported to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal for medical treatment. Officials moved the patients under tight security protocols due to the volatile environment in the region. Local reports indicated that the firing took place as fresh tensions emerged between the villages.

Authorities have not yet identified those responsible for the violence or confirmed the specific circumstances surrounding the event. Civil officials and security forces are currently monitoring the area to ensure the situation does not escalate further.
