Guwahati: Authorities in Assam successfully rescued two minor girls from a Delhi-bound train in the Bongaigaon district on Tuesday. The teenagers, who attend a government school in Diphu and are students in the 10th and 12th grades, were reported missing by their families last week after they failed to return home from classes.

A coordinated operation involving the Assam Police and the Government Railway Police led to the recovery of the girls. Following the rescue, three male suspects aged between 18 and 19 were taken into custody. These individuals, who reportedly hail from Delhi and Bihar, were transported to Diphu alongside the victims on Monday night for further investigation.

Initial reports indicate that the suspects allegedly befriended the girls through social media platforms and promised them employment opportunities in the national capital to lure them away. Law enforcement officials stated they are actively investigating the case, noting that they suspect the involvement of a larger trafficking network. Further details are expected to be released following the interrogation of the accused.
