Guwahati: Agents swarmed a Sonapur resort late at night. They caught three men red-handed during a deal for a rhino horn. The joint operation between the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau and the Sonapur Forest Division ended the illicit trade before it finished.

The horn weighed 920 grams. Investigators identified the suspects as Chandan Nath, Chandan Kumar Nath, and Dipjyoti Barman. All three hail from Nalbari district. Officials said the trio was apprehended while attempting to finalise the transaction.

The raid at Segun Bagan Resort in Komarkuchi turned up more than just the horn. Police seized a Tata Nexon, a laptop, ATM cards, and four mobile phones. Authorities believe the gang used these tools to run their trafficking network from the resort.

Forest officials are now digging into the case to find where the horn came from and who else is involved. This bust strikes a blow against the illegal trade that threatens the state's one-horned rhinoceros population.
