Agartala: Thirty young women from rural Tripura have landed jobs in the textile industry following a three-month intensive training program. The participants completed their certification as Industrial Sewing Machine Operators through the DDU-GKY 2.0 initiative, which is implemented by the Ishwar Chandra Vidya Sagar National Youth Council.
After passing assessments from the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, the women departed from Agartala Railway Station this Wednesday. They are heading to Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, to join COLOR DREAMS, a unit of Sri Saravana Mills Pvt. Ltd.
The new recruits will earn a starting monthly salary of 18,083 rupees. To support their transition, the company is providing free on-campus food and accommodation. Officials from the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission attended the departure to encourage the group as they begin their professional careers.
This initiative serves as a model for economic empowerment in rural areas. By connecting training directly to employment, the program aims to inspire more young women in the state to seek financial independence and career opportunities beyond their home region.
