Imphal: The Thadou Students Association (TSA) has formally condemned a violent ambush that occurred on May 13, 2026, along the Kotlen-Kotzim Inter Village Road in Manipur. The attack, which took place in the Kangpokpi district, resulted in the tragic deaths of Rev. Dr. Vumthang Sitlhou and two other senior pastors, while five additional individuals sustained injuries. Describing the incident as an act of terrorism, the organization has called for a comprehensive investigation by the National Investigation Agency to ensure accountability.

In their statement, the TSA criticized the Manipur government, led by Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, citing administrative failure and alleged communal bias. The association specifically alleged that internal divisions within the Manipur Police hindered an immediate response, contrasting this with the prompt actions of Assam Rifles personnel, including Major Sahil Rishi, Captain Nando Babu, Colonel Radha Krishna, and Brigadier Pratyush Kumar, who were instrumental in the aftermath of the attack.

Further concerns were raised regarding the treatment of the survivors. The TSA alleged that injured victims were pressured to depart a private hospital in Imphal shortly after undergoing surgery and were subsequently transferred to Kangpokpi Civil Hospital. The association characterized this as discriminatory, suggesting it highlights ongoing barriers for the Thadou community in accessing healthcare within the capital.
