Imphal: The Thadou Inpi Manipur has raised concerns over a meeting held in Imphal between a Kuki delegation and Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. The delegation, which included MLA Haokholet Kipgen and representatives from the Kuki Inpi Manipur and the Kuki Students Organisation, reportedly represented Kuki Suspension of Operation groups. The Thadou body questioned the timing of this visit, suggesting it functions as a damage control exercise meant to protect political interests and influence ongoing criminal investigations.

Thadou Inpi Manipur argued that the visit aims to deflect attention from militants operating under the Suspension of Operation agreement. According to the organization, these groups are seeking to protect their political standing while manipulating public perception. The group stated, "We are not surprised. Thadou Inpi Manipur has long warned the people of Manipur about the methods and ambitions of ideologically driven and violence-oriented Kuki groups."

The organization highlighted the lack of arrests following recent violent incidents, including the May 13 killing of three Thadou pastors and the deaths of six Naga civilians. They expressed concern that these acts of violence, occurring in areas dominated by Kuki militants, might involve interconnected networks. The Thadou body cautioned the state government against being swayed by political pressure, urging for transparent investigations to restore public confidence. They maintained that accountability is essential to ending the cycles of conflict currently affecting the region.
