Tenyimi Union Dimapur Backs Government Decision on Rongmei Tribe Status

Kohima: The Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) has publicly supported the state government's recent decision to issue Scheduled Tribe Certificates and Permanent Resident Certificates to the Rongmei community. This policy applies to individuals included in the 1313 enumerated list along with their direct descendants.

TUD president Thepfuneituo Rio praised the move as a significant step toward resolving a long-standing issue for the community. The organization emphasized that eligible Rongmei members deserve the benefits and recognition outlined in the new government directive.

Regarding the path forward, the union stated, "We hope that the implementation process would be carried out in a fair, transparent and orderly manner in accordance with the established guidelines." The union expects this official action to effectively address existing concerns while ensuring that all qualified beneficiaries receive their rightful entitlements.
