Imphal: Civil society organizations in Manipur's Tengnoupal district have declared an indefinite economic blockade starting May 28. This action serves as a demand for justice following the killing of three religious leaders from the Kuki-Zo community and seeks the safe release of hostages held by both sides of the region's ongoing conflict.

The coalition is backing efforts led by Kuki Inpi Manipur, which has officially called for a judicial inquiry into the ambush that resulted in the deaths of the three individuals. Representatives confirmed that the blockade will remain in place until the government secures the release of all captives and provides accountability for the victims.

A joint statement signed by groups including the Kuki Chiefs Association, Kuki Women Union, and the Kuki Students Organization emphasized the need for an impartial government investigation. These organizations stated that these measures are necessary to address the violence and restore communal harmony throughout the state.
