Itanagar: The District Mineral Foundation Governing Council in Tawang approved a series of development proposals for the 2026-27 financial year. Deputy Commissioner Namgyal Angmo chaired the meeting, where officials reviewed project feasibility and the potential impact of various schemes across the district’s three subdivisions.
Assistant Mineral Development Officer Dorjee Lhamu outlined the fund’s objectives and presented the new proposals. During the session, members discussed strategies to strengthen public services. Key suggestions included hiring teachers through the PMKKKY to address staff shortages, appointing ambulance drivers to improve emergency response, and recruiting dialysis technicians for the District Hospital. Zila Parishad Chairperson Leki Gombu pushed for better waste management, proposing Material Recovery Facilities for remote villages like Mago and Thingbu. The Industries Department also secured support for training programs focused on the packaging of local goods.
Deputy Commissioner Angmo urged officials to prioritize high quality in project execution and requested the prompt completion of all pending work from previous years. She described the foundation’s budget as a vital, limited resource that requires careful management to ensure long-term community benefits.
The council meeting concluded with a tribute to retiring District Medical Officer Dr. Thupten Lhamu. After over 34 years of service, Dr. Lhamu thanked the administration for its focus on healthcare infrastructure during her final term.
