Imphal: The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has issued a stern condemnation of a large-scale security operation conducted in Konsakhul, a Liangmai Naga village in Manipur. The organization labeled the government action as insensitive, noting that the community remains in deep mourning following the killing of six local villagers.
These victims were among 18 individuals abducted on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village. The TNL blames armed cadres of the Kuki National Front-Presidential for the kidnappings. Although some hostages, including women and two Salesian priests, were released, six individuals were held captive. Their bodies were discovered nearly a month later near Leilon Vaiphei and transferred to authorities on June 10, sparking intense outrage among Naga communities.
The TNL criticized the state for targeting a vulnerable village instead of hunting the perpetrators of the crime. The organization stated, "TNL described Konsakhul as a victim village still grieving the loss of six Liangmai Naga civilians who were among 18 people abducted on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village."
Demanding immediate accountability, the group has called on both the state and central governments to arrest and prosecute those responsible for the murders. The TNL maintains that long-term peace in the region is impossible without full justice for the bereaved families.
