Guwahati: A crowd gathered at Zubeen Udyan in Nagaon on Saturday evening to express solidarity and demand justice for Assamese music icon Zubeen Garg. The event, held on May 23, drew admirers and associates who came together to show their continued support for the artist.
Garima Garg, the singer's wife, attended the event alongside members of the musical tribute band Jontro. During the gathering, they offered floral tributes to a statue of the artist in the presence of Nagaon MLA Rupak Sarmah. Addressing the crowd, Garima Garg questioned the current state of affairs regarding his case. She stated that if Zubeen Garg cannot receive justice, the concept itself loses its meaning and should be removed from the dictionary.
Partha Pratim Goswami, a long-time colleague and bandmate, spoke about the emotional weight of the movement. He remarked that the statue would only truly come alive once justice is served, vowing to be the first to light a lamp in honor of the singer on that day. Participants at the event reaffirmed their commitment to the cause, as emotional scenes marked the collective call for accountability.
