Stunt bikers relocate to New Shillong Township following police crackdown

Shillong: Reckless motorcyclists have moved their stunt operations to the New Shillong Township after facing intense pressure from law enforcement in Ri-Bhoi. Riders previously frequented the Shillong-Guwahati national highway, but consistent surveillance and strict enforcement by local police forced them to abandon the busy route.

The Ummir-Mawkhanu road has become the new gathering point for these riders, especially on Sundays. The area offers wide, under-construction roads with little traffic and few residents, creating an ideal environment for dangerous maneuvers.

While the crackdown successfully improved safety on the main highway, residents and authorities now face growing concerns regarding the risks posed to the developing New Shillong Township. The shift reflects a growing pattern of thrill-seekers looking for quiet, unmonitored stretches to perform stunts.
