Imphal: The Kangliepak Students Association (KSA) is pushing the Manipur government to turn DM Community College into a full-fledged Skill University. The group wants the state to stop any plans to fold the institution into Dhanamanjuri University, citing its vital role in local job training.
The college is falling apart. It suffers from a massive shortage of faculty, crumbling infrastructure, and a lack of gear for hands-on training. Sinam James Khuman, the KSA secretary of publicity, says the status quo is unacceptable. He claims the institution has "played a key role in promoting skill-based education and generating employment opportunities for youths in Manipur."
Students are trapped in a cycle of chaos. Delayed exams and a messy academic calendar have left their futures in limbo. Registration blockers with the State Allied and Healthcare Council and the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions are further slamming the door on graduates trying to advance their careers.
The KSA wants the government to inject new life into the school. They demand more skill-focused courses and immediate state support. The group is now calling on the public to back their bid to turn the college into a dedicated hub for high-level technical training.
