Shillong: The Meghalaya government slapped a firm August 10 deadline on the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) to wrap up the Laitlyngkot subway project. Work must finish on time. This push aims to clear the massive bottleneck blocking the vital Shillong-Dawki road.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who oversees the Public Works Department, issued the order following a high-level review of state infrastructure. Traffic has stalled on a stretch of the highway since severe landslides tore through the area last month. Officials also scrutinized the progress of the high-speed corridor and various road construction efforts currently underway in the Garo Hills.
