Stalled cargo trucks pile up as Manipur unrest halts supplies

Imphal: Hundreds of cargo trucks are sitting idle on the Silchar-Jiribam road. Security concerns in Manipur have forced authorities to halt all freight traffic for the past week. The stoppage has left a massive line of 8-wheel and 12-wheel vehicles trapped in the heat.

Perishable goods are spoiling inside the trailers. Fish and fresh vegetables are rotting as the wait drags on. Drivers face a double hit of ruined stock and mechanical failures from leaving the trucks stationary for seven days.

Transporters are feeling the pinch. The financial damage is stacking up fast. Drivers expressed their frustration to officials, warning of a total breakdown in the supply chain for essential goods. They urged an immediate resolution to the standoff: "The stranded drivers urged the authorities to take appropriate measures to restore the safe movement of cargo vehicles at the earliest."

The situation remains tense. No relief is in sight for the haulers stuck in the queue. Supplies remain locked down while security leaders manage the unrest across the border.
