Kohima: St Joseph University in Chümoukedima just wrapped up a two-day workshop focused on artificial intelligence. The school wants its teachers to use AI for better lesson planning, content creation, and grading. The Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized the event to push staff toward modern tech.
Chancellor Very Rev Fr Dr J E Arul Raj opened the sessions. He told the staff that language gaps in education are fading fast. He said, "Language should no longer be a barrier to learning with the availability of tools such as Google Translate."
Dr Nagaraju Baydeti from NIT Nagaland led the first day. He showed professors how to use ChatGPT and Gemini for building rubrics and handling paperwork. He warned everyone to keep ethics and academic integrity in the mix while using these new bots.
Day two shifted to automation. Dr Uzzal Sharma from Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya introduced platforms like NotebookLM and Gamma. He taught the faculty how to make infographics and summaries in seconds. He insisted that machines must work alongside teachers, not take their jobs. The university now plans to move toward a fully AI-enabled campus.
