Guwahati: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse visited Imphal on May 25 to assess the development of the National Sports University and the Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence. Her visit focused on evaluating infrastructure progress and engaging with the local sports community.

During her tour of the permanent campus in Koutruk, officials reported that construction is 95 percent complete. The 325-acre site features modern academic blocks, smart classrooms, laboratories, and residential facilities for 1,300 students. Khadse reviewed these developments, noting the institution's role in advancing sports science, research, and athlete training.

The minister began her day by joining athletes during their morning training sessions. She participated in conditioning drills and spoke with coaches about the importance of discipline. She later inspected support systems at the SAI centre, including physiotherapy and nutrition facilities, to ensure regional athletes have access to elite resources.

Khadse emphasized that the government is prioritizing sports infrastructure to foster a new generation of competitive professionals. She highlighted that the university will serve as a landmark facility for integrating technology and innovation into Indian athletics.
