Guwahati: Thousands of devotees took to the streets of Silchar on Wednesday, August 26. They gathered for a grand Julus-e-Mohammadi to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. The Cachar District Central Julus-e-Mohammadi Celebration Committee organized the event. Their goal centered on themes of peace, brotherhood, and communal harmony.
The march started at Kanakpur Eidgah. Participants traveled through Peshkar Jungle, Sonai Road, and Shildubi. The route ended at Bhuwaljuri Saheb Bari. Organizers banned large vehicles and trailers from the procession. Madrasa students and over 1,000 youths walked the route on foot. Thousands more joined the crowd on motorcycles and in smaller vehicles. Students from Dawat-e-Islami India and other madrasas bolstered the massive turnout.
Crowds walked past religious flags and decorated gates. Volunteers passed out water, sherbet, sweets, and fruits along the path. The committee deployed more than 100 volunteers to manage traffic and keep order. The district administration provided security to guarantee a safe event. At the finish line, organizers held a Naat-e-Rasool and a special prayer for world peace.
The group thanked the local police and the administration for their help. They issued a final statement on the day's success. The committee expressed "gratitude to the police, administration, volunteers and participants for ensuring the peaceful conduct of the procession." The event wrapped up with a firm focus on humanity and communal unity.
