Southern Angami Leaders Assert Stewardship During Manipur Governor's Dzükou Visit

Kohima: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla toured the Dzükou Valley on Monday. Local officials and Southern Angami Public Organisation leaders greeted him at Viswema village. The trip included stops at the valley's watersheds and bamboo meadows. Security teams ensured the entourage reached the site safely.

Bhalla praised the valley for its clean water and preserved ecosystem. The Southern Angami Public Organisation, known as SAPO, used the event to highlight their historic control over the land. SAPO President Er Tepul Hopovi stated, "The Southern Angami have been the custodians of this mystical and paradise on earth, Dzükou in Nagaland, since time immemorial."

The group presented the Governor with a traditional shawl and a memento. SAPO claims the valley belongs to all nature lovers. They hope the state government will continue to support community-led conservation efforts. The organization believes that long-term wealth depends on protecting the environment rather than extracting resources.
