Guwahati: Sivasagar Police arrested a suspected drug peddler on June 12 during an operation in the Jengonikatia area. Officers apprehended the man, identified as Hanif Ali, while he was allegedly transporting illicit substances to an undisclosed location.
During the search, police seized eight containers from Ali that held approximately 15 grams of suspected narcotics each. Officials are currently investigating the origin of the contraband and its intended destination as legal proceedings against the suspect move forward.
This arrest is part of a broader crackdown on local drug trafficking. Just one day earlier, police detained two individuals for consuming drugs near the entrance of the Sivasagar District Jail. Local authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to this ongoing mission, stating, "Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continuing strict action against drug peddlers and substance abuse across the district."
