Kohima: Alobo Naga landed a new gig. The popular Naga singer-songwriter will lead the North East Zone Cultural Centre in Dimapur. The Raj Bhavan confirmed his appointment for a three-year contract on Wednesday. He starts as soon as he joins the office.
The Ministry of Culture in New Delhi signed off on the move back in June. Thavaseelan K, Secretary to the Governor, issued the formal order. Naga will receive the standard pay and allowances for a central government director. The Governor of Nagaland serves as the NEZCC Chairman and signed off on the selection.
Naga built a career long before this appointment. He hit the national scene with his debut album, "Road of a Thousand Dreams." He formed Alobo Naga and The Band in 2010. By 2011, the group caught attention when their single "Painted Dreams" hit VH1. The band eventually won a spot at an international competition in Montenegro.
His work history runs deep. He founded the Alobo Naga School of Music and hosts his own talk show. He also served as a Brand Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and an icon for the state election commission. He brings a wide resume to the post.
