Gangtok: The Sikkim Tourism and Civil Aviation Department moved its operations online this Wednesday. Minister Tshering T Bhutia launched a new e-office web application designed to strip away red tape. The state government wants faster service.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang ordered the shift to digital processing. Now, staff can scan and upload documents to a central portal. This change allows for real-time tracking of every proposal as it moves through the chain of command.

The system links district tourism offices directly to the main headquarters. Better coordination is the goal. Officials hope this ends the days of lost paperwork and slow approval cycles. Soon, the department plans to bring all state tourism information centers into the same network.

Bhutia believes this is a game changer for the department. "It is a time-saving initiative that enables officials concerned to review proposals and take necessary action digitally," the minister said. The state aims to keep pace with modern technology while making government work open to the public eye.
