Gangtok: Sikkim is preparing to host its first International Agro Tourism Festival from June 13 to 15, 2026. The three-day event will bring together participants from India, Nepal, and Bhutan to celebrate the intersection of agriculture, tourism, and cultural heritage.
The festival will span three districts and three constituencies, specifically Rhenock, Martam-Rumtek, and Temi-Tarku. Local Tourist Development Societies are organizing the initiative to highlight the region's potential for sustainable travel while supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs.
Attendees will include agricultural experts, tourism professionals, and cultural groups from all three participating nations. The program features interactive discussions on rural development, farm-based experiences, traditional cuisine, and various exhibitions. Organizers believe the event will serve as a landmark initiative for Sikkim's tourism sector, "showcasing the state's agricultural strengths while encouraging community-based tourism and international collaboration in the Himalayan region."
