Sikkim Chief Minister Honors 17th Karmapa at Rumtek Monastery

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the historic Rumtek Monastery on June 16 to mark the birth anniversary of the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje. During his visit to the monastery, which serves as the traditional seat of the Karmapa lineage, the Chief Minister offered prayers and sought blessings in the presence of His Eminence the 12th Goshri Gyaltsab Rinpoche.

Tamang prayed for the long life, good health, and continued spiritual guidance of the Buddhist leader. He also expressed his hope that society would remain committed to the values of harmony and the welfare of all sentient beings. Reflecting on the significance of the day, he shared his desire for Buddhist teachings to remain a guiding force for humanity.

Highlighting the importance of these values, the Chief Minister stated, "May the timeless teachings of the Dharma continue to illuminate our lives, guiding us towards compassion, wisdom, and the spirit of universal brotherhood." The birth anniversary is celebrated with deep devotion across the Himalayan region and the global Buddhist community, with monasteries hosting special ceremonies to commemorate the occasion.
